As unseasonably warm temperatures this week revealed early
inklings of spring, it's no surprise famous faces like Dakota Johnson, NaomiWatts and Amal Clooney playfully donned shorter hemlines and fresh prints when
hitting the town. From London to Los Angeles, the stars wasted no opportunity
to shine on the red carpet in spring-ready looks featuring delicate floral
motifs and lighter, brighter silhouettes.
While a dapper George Clooney shone at the Los Angeles
premiere of his latest film Hail, Caesar!, it was his lovely wife Amal who
truly stole the show. The human rights lawyer slipped into a white Giambattista
Valli cocktail dress with red floral embroidery across the bodice. The flirty
mini-frock was reminiscent of another now-iconic look she wore by the Italian
designer, a couture creation in which Amal stepped out the day after her Venice
nuptials in 2014. For the fashionable date night at her husband's premiere,
Amal paired her feminine look with silver pointy-toed Dior pumps.
Putting a romantic twist on her red-carpet look, Dakota
Johnson showcased her strong sartorial instincts in a nude, floor-length Saint
Laurent gown with starry silver embellishments. She finished the look with a
pretty half-up, half-down hairstyle and chunky jewellery – a fitting complement
for her date-night rom-com flick, How To Be Single.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies star Lily James showed her
stripes at the film's premiere in a gorgeous two-piece ensemble by London-based
Canadian designer Erdem. She sealed the look with a pretty ribbon bow wrapped
into her updo – a total fashion win for the British actress, who walked the red
carpet with her co-star boyfriend Matt Smith.
And throughout the week, stars like a Burberry-clad Naomi
Watts and Maisie Williams opted for lighter, delicate fabrics and prints.
Penelope Cruz donned a silky white Atelier Versace gown with metallic
embellishments at the Zoolander 2 premiere in Madrid, while Best Actress
nominee Saoirse Ronan kept her look floral and feminine with a lace blush-hued
Michael Kors gown for the 2016 SAG Awards (and did we mention her killer messy
bun? Tips to get the look here!). But it was Natalie Portman's floor-length
Valentino gown, embroidered with blooming motifs that had us dreaming of the
bright and sunny season ahead.
